Buyers: These things may happen to you...

You will not be told exactly how much money to bring to closing until three days before.

You won't be told that you need to bring your closing funds in a cashier's check. Personal check or cash is not accepted.

The dates on your contract will change, possibly several times.

You will learn that not every home has granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances, like on HGTV. You will have to settle somewhat.

You will be anxious or nervous. Don't be afraid to ask questions in order to feel more comfortable or to gain clarity.

You may be asked to make a decision on a home within hours of seeing it for the first time.

You will become irritated or annoyed about several last minute paperwork requests with short deadlines.

A buyer will negotiate 2-5 times on one transaction. You will negotiate the purchase price, the inspection repairs, possibly the appraisal, the final walk-through.

You will want to tell your friends and family about your experience on social media - don't do it until closing!

The Mortgage company will most likely pull another credit report on you days before or even the day of your closing, so don't finance any new purchases or open a new credit card until after closing.
